- William Paine (...) was a shoemaker by trade. He was a revolutionary soldier, enlisting in 1776 under Capt. Paul Ellis of Falmouth. Dec 5, 1766, he married Sarah Mayo. Their children were all born in Gorham, except the elsest, Mary, who was born in Eastham. (History of Gorham, 1903.) [2]
